NEW UPDATES - 09-25-04

1,900 property owners in Midland have received a unique letter from Pierce County Planning & Land Services, offering to examine our properties to determine if wetlands are present.

WE URGE YOU TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS AMAZING OPPORTUNITY!!

Why should we do this?

All or part of many Midland properties are wetlands.                                                  Ask yourself this.....

Does any or all of your property become flooded or waterlogged during the rainy season?

Is there a part of your property that always seems to be wet?

The answers mean different things to different property owners.......

A great majority - perhaps up to 60% of Midland - is wetland, and you may have wetlands on your property.  If so, property tax reductions and/or other compensation options are available to you through a number of Pierce County agencies and departments.

Do you have plans to build on your property now or in the future?

If so, a determination of wetlands presence must be done at the time of application to build--which can be very costly for the land owner and can delay the application processing time substantially.

These links will help you understand what the application process includes.
